{"id":11318,"date":"2023-11-13T14:03:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T14:03:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eodatahub.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/13\/webinar-screening-foreign-investment-the-rising-importance-of-economic-security\/"},"modified":"2023-11-13T14:03:47","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T14:03:47","slug":"webinar-screening-foreign-investment-the-rising-importance-of-economic-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eodatahub.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/13\/webinar-screening-foreign-investment-the-rising-importance-of-economic-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar: Screening foreign investment \u2013 the rising importance of economic security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ADS is pleased to host a <strong>free-to-participate<\/strong> webinar for ADS <strong>members only<\/strong> on the National Security and Investment Act, and its place within the global context of governments around the World who are trying to control investment.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/ukpga\/2021\/25\/contents\/enacted%20and%20https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/national-security-and-investment-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Security and Investment Act (NSIA) 2021<\/a><\/strong> came into force on Tuesday 4 January 2022 and sought to create a strengthened national security regime for screening proposed investment. The regime has strengthened the UK Government\u2019s powers to investigate and intervene in potentially hostile investment, especially in critical sectors such as defence and space, whilst also, simultaneously, seeking to ensure that the UK maintains its reputation as an attractive place to invest.<\/p>\n<p>It had particular implications for ADS\u2019 four sectors (all of whom are listed as being strategically important) and so ADS organised two awareness-raising webinars on the NSIA \u2013 one (with Baker McKenzie) on Tuesday 24 November 2020, and the second (with BEIS and Squire Patton Boggs) on Tuesday 16 November 2021.
