The updated tool allows users to combine bands for their area of interest to explore\u00a0the global Landsat Archive.\u00a0 (Public domain.)<\/p>\n<p>The improved product allows for easier discovery, scanning, studying, and downloading of imagery from the USGS National Land Imaging Program. The Viewer also allows\u00a0for rapid online viewing and access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/core-science-systems\/nli\/landsat\/landsat-collection-2-level-2-science-products\" title=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/core-science-systems\/nli\/landsat\/landsat-collection-2-level-2-science-products\">USGS Landsat Collection 2<\/a> data, which is available in both traditional and cloud-friendly formats.\u00a0Viewing options include the generation of monthly mosaics and time series videos.<\/p>\n<p>LandsatLook\u00a02.0\u00a0leverages both formats by enabling users to download individual bands in the viewer\u2019s metadata section or cut and paste code from their area of interest into a notebook for analysis in a commercial cloud environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2008, Landsat access was transformed under an open data policy. Moving these data into the cloud was the next big transformation, which made the data even more accessible to users,\u201d said Kristi Kline, Observing Systems Branch Chief at USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center. \u201cLandsatLook 2.0 is a new tool designed to help users take advantage of cloud-based systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Users of the tool can browse the entire global Landsat archive and visualize scenes in any band combination or use pre-set combinations like natural color and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index. LandsatLook\u00a02.0\u00a0replaces the original\u00a0LandsatLook\u00a0viewer for Collection 2 data. That legacy viewer, now known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/landlook.usgs.gov\/\" title=\"https:\/\/landlook.usgs.gov\/\">LandLook<\/a>, will continue to provide access to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/core-science-systems\/nli\/landsat\/landsat-collection-1\" title=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/core-science-systems\/nli\/landsat\/landsat-collection-1\">Landsat Collection 1<\/a>\u2019s scene-based images. Additionally, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/landlook.usgs.gov\/sentinel2\/viewer.html\" title=\"https:\/\/landlook.usgs.gov\/sentinel2\/viewer.html\">Sentinel2Look Viewer<\/a>\u00a0will continue to offer access to the USGS archive of imagery from Europe\u2019s Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite missions.<\/p>\n<p>LandsatLook\u00a02.0\u00a0improvements provide users the ability to:<\/p>\n<p>Filter scenes by querying the Landsat archive by area of interest, sensor, acquisition date or cloud cover,<br \/>\nVisualize dynamic image mosaics by choosing band combinations or choosing from available spectral indices<br \/>\nFilter out cloud contaminated pixels<br \/>\nExport an image mosaic in a Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format<br \/>\nView metadata of source scenes<br \/>\nDownload individual band files of source scenes<br \/>\nSearch by address or place name, or pan\/zoom to a point on the base map<br \/>\nZoom to a location using the locator function from a web browser<br \/>\nOverlay the Worldwide Reference System 2 (WRS-2) grid on the base map for added spatial awareness<br \/>\nGenerate and download a video animation mosaic time-lapse showing how the dynamic mosaic changes over time<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about LandsatLook 2.0 and experience a visual tour of its capabilities: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/media\/videos\/landsat-cloud-landsatlook-20\">https:\/\/www.usgs.gov\/media\/videos\/landsat-cloud-landsatlook-20<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The EROS Center welcomes feedback on any of its data access tools.
