With the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, or Martyn\u2019s Law, receiving Royal Assent on 3 April 2025\u00a0Landmark anti-terror legislation gains Royal Assent \u2013 GOV.UK<\/strong><\/a>, it seems timely for the ADS Physical Security and Resilience SIG to consider this forthcoming legislation.<\/p>\n

Whilst we await the publication of the statutory guidelines that will shape the implementation of the Bill, it is unrealistic to expect the Home Office or Security Industry Authority (SIA), the appointed regulator, to provide any guidance beyond their publicly stated positions Martyn\u2019s Law overview and what you need to know | ProtectUK<\/a>,\u00a0Martyn\u2019s Law Factsheet \u2013 Home Office in the media<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In light of this, we have invited the UK Crowd Management Association\u00a0UKCMA | The UK Crowd Management Association<\/strong><\/a> to deliver a presentation on the legislation. As a key stakeholder consulted throughout the development of the Bill, UKCMA is well-placed to provide valuable context and share its insights into the anticipated direction of implementation and regulation in the short term, though it will not offer an official or binding interpretation.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, we are also pleased to welcome Chief Superintendent Joe McDonald<\/strong>, the Head of Police Planning for UEFA Euro 2028. Seconded from the Metropolitan Police Service into the Department for Culture, Media & Sport for this major international sporting event, Chief Superintendent McDonald will provide an strategic overview of this prestigious tournament which will once again put the UK in the global spotlight. This will enable members to prepare in advance for any opportunities or challenges that the event may present.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To conclude the event, we will provide a short briefing on the recently released 2025 Security and Resilience Sector UK Outlook which highlights the significant contribution of our sector to the national economy.<\/p>\n
