The UK\u2019s defence sector is a vital pillar of our society \u2013 but for many of us, a career in defence is synonymous with service (and nothing more). It goes far beyond that, with latest figures highlighting 164,000 well paid jobs across engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and more, offering rewarding careers with substantial training and development opportunities.<\/p>\n

For too long career paths in the defence sector have stayed away from the spotlight. It\u2019s time to change that.<\/p>\n

Paul Livingston<\/strong>\u00a0is the Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin, a leading defence tech organisation. He has enjoyed over thirty years in defence working on exciting combat aircraft programmes, but started much more humbly as an engineering apprentice \u2013 so from apprentice to CEO, what\u2019s the secret of his success?<\/p>\n

Rhiannon Padley<\/strong> is the Head of External Affairs at Marshall, a mid-tier working across the UK in aerospace. Her previous experience includes stints in the UK Parliament and government as a special advisor \u2013 so what brought her to defence?<\/p>\n

Samira Braund<\/strong> is the Defence Director for UK trade association ADS. Her career accelerated through non-combative Business Management and transformational roles; although she enjoyed an early stint in a building society in sales development. More recently Samira was CEO of the government-funded UK Defence Solutions Centre before joining ADS \u2013 so what makes her stay in defence?<\/p>\n
