EU Space Week 2022<\/a> (EUSW22) is set to put the spotlight on Europe\u2019s dynamic \u2013 and rapidly growing \u2013 space sector. \u201cAs the hallmark event for the European space sector, EU Space Week is a unique opportunity to get an up close look at how European businesses \u2013 and society in general \u2013benefit from the EU Space Programme<\/a>,\u201d says EUSPA Executive Director Rodrigo da Costa. \u201cIt is particularly exciting to be able to host this year\u2019s edition in Prague, the home of EUSPA\u2019s headquarters.<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Expected to bring together over 1,500 representatives from across the European space industry, EUSW22 features a packed agenda<\/a> that spans the entire spectrum of the EU Space Programme. The four-day event kicks off on 3 October with the annual User Consultation Platform<\/a> (UCP). The UCP is an opportunity for business and industry leaders, entrepreneurs, service providers, innovators and space user communities to express their needs, share best practices and present case studies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leveraging the central role users play in shaping space applications, the outcomes of this year\u2019s UCP will help ensure that EU Space works for everyone.<\/p>\n

Keynotes, insights and lively discussions\u00a0<\/h3>\n

EUSW22 swings into high gear on Tuesday, 4 October with a speaker list<\/a>\u00a0 of leaders from across and beyond the EU space ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The day also features insights and lively discussions on such topics as strengthening the EU Space Programme through increased cooperation and how EU space is enabling secure communications<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Space is a strategic domain that is undergoing a massive transformation, thus panel discussion such as\u00a0 \u2018Space for EU Resilience and Autonomy<\/a>\u2019 with several entrepreneurs is to listen . It will be the opportunity to discuss how to stay at the forefront of this transformation and how the EU needs to consolidate existing assets while also developing to face upcoming challenges.<\/p>\n

Programme updates and funding opportunities\u00a0<\/h3>\n

The EUSW22 agenda includes an array of sessions, plenaries, events and demonstrations covering everything from current and future trends to market forecasts, business opportunities, space-application demonstrations and updates on the EGNOS, Galileo, Copernicus and GOVSATCOM programmes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Galileo<\/a> and EGNOS<\/a> enable the determination of a precise position anywhere, while Copernicus<\/a> provides information on the Earth\u2019s surface, atmosphere and oceans. When you put these programmes together, you unleash an array of synergies that not only have a significant commercial potential, but can also have a powerful impact on society and the planet. The status session and the EU Space Programme Conclusionary<\/a> session on 5 October will give you an update of its capabilities.<\/p>\n

Also happening on 5 October are several sessions focused on investment and funding opportunities such as the CASSINI facility<\/a> and the Horizon Europe<\/a> programme.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both the CASSINI and Horizon<\/a> sessions are a chance for participants to learn more about these important initiatives and receive practical advice from previously funded projects. EUSW22 also features a CASSINI Matchmaking event<\/a> and a session dedicated to upcoming Horizon Europe opportunities<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From women in space to the metaverse\u00a0<\/h3>\n

Last but not least, the week includes sessions that hit on a number of hot topics. For instance, the Women in Space session<\/a> aims to identify the obstacles women face when entering space-related careers and what steps can be taken to end gender disparities. A session on Space for Equality<\/a> will look at how applications are leveraging EU Space to create a more inclusive and welcoming society for everyone.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other sessions will focus on fostering essential skills for the next generation of space professionals<\/a> and engaging with public authorities for better market uptake<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Taking place 3 \u2013 6 October 2022 in Prague and online, EU Space Week 2022 is jointly organised by the European Commission and EUSPA and is being held under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU<\/a> and the City of Prague.<\/p>\n
