NEREUS organised the 21st Info Session<\/strong>, focusing on regional initiatives supporting lunar business activities through education and training, on 23 April 2026 from 11:00 to 12:30 (Brussels time)<\/strong>. The session brought together participants from regional authorities, industry, academia, and the wider space community.<\/p>\n

The session highlighted how the development of lunar activities increasingly relies on strong collaboration between space agencies, regional ecosystems, industry, and research institutions. A particular emphasis was placed on the role of education and training as a key enabler\u2014bridging these actors, equipping the next generation with relevant skills, and fostering active participation in the emerging lunar economy.<\/p>\n

Contributions came from a range of regional and industry representatives:<\/p>\n

Simon Drake<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and Kevin M. Mac Gowan<\/span><\/span><\/strong> presented the Lunar Resources Registry initiative from the Hesse region, outlining its role in supporting governance and transparency in future lunar resource activities.<\/p>\n

Florian Glei\u00dfner<\/span><\/span><\/strong> (OHB SE<\/span><\/span>) showcased the Lunar Port initiative from the Bremen region, highlighting infrastructure needs and industrial opportunities linked to lunar exploration.<\/p>\n

Charis Kosmas<\/span><\/span><\/strong> (Lunar Cargo<\/span><\/span>) presented the MACEDONAS lunar landing infrastructure project, a joint initiative involving the Hesse and Attica regions, focusing on future logistics and landing capabilities on the Moon.<\/p>\n

The session also featured an intervention by Ntorina Antoni<\/span><\/span><\/strong> from Eindhoven University of Technology<\/span><\/span>, who addressed open innovation and stakeholder engagement in space governance, underlining the importance of inclusive and collaborative approaches in shaping the future space sector.<\/p>\n

The webinar concluded with a moderated discussion and interactive Q&A session, where participants exchanged views on regional cooperation, skills development, and the challenges and opportunities associated with building a sustainable lunar economy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
