Follow-up: INFO SESSION ON ESA BUSINESS APPLICATIONS FOR SPACE SOLUTIONS, FRIDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2025, 09.30 – 11.00H

On 19 September, NEREUS hosted an informative webinar introducing the ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme and its current open calls, as part of the preparatory series for the European Symposium by NEREUS Regions 2025.

The session opened with welcoming remarks by Roya Ayazi, Secretary General of NEREUS, followed by a general overview of the ESA BASS programme presented by Massimiliano Arcieri (ESA) (download here the presentation). Participants were then introduced to three ongoing calls:

  • Space for Monitoring Hazardous Materials – supporting solutions for identifying and managing hazardous substances.

  • Underwater Radiated Noise – addressing environmental challenges linked to underwater noise using space-enabled services.

  • Space for Sustainability, Sports, and Mass Events – exploring innovative applications of satellite technologies to reduce the environmental impact of large-scale events.

The session concluded with an outlook on the upcoming Green Hydrogen call, offering participants a first glimpse at future funding opportunities.

This webinar successfully raised awareness of ESA’s open calls, aligning them with the themes of the upcoming European Symposium 2025. It also provided participants with direct insights into how space-enabled applications can foster sustainability and innovation across diverse sectors.
